A very special location

The property is located in the village of Sloten. Formerly an independent municipality that covered a large part of Amsterdam west to Schiphol.
Today it falls under the municipality of Amsterdam and the Osdorp/Slotervaart district.

It was recently designated a protected villagescape. The characteristic village green with water pump, the ban pole and the toll house already indicate that it has a long history. In the past, all traffic passed through the village and tolls were charged. There once was also a horse tram that went to Amsterdam.

In the area behind the house there are still many beautiful and old allotment garden complexes. In the past, they were mainly beekeepers, but because the site was significantly reduced due to the construction of the A4, they moved elsewhere.

Also unique are the busy playground that is maintained by all parents, a cheese factory, beer brewer, ice cream parlour, cafe/restaurants, etc.
Real shopping has been replaced by all kinds of specialties and the mill (also our polling station) has also made it a tourist spot.

For daily shopping, there are many options around the village in Nieuw Sloten and Badhoevedorp, both 5 minutes by bike.

Every now and then there are things like a village festival and King’s Day for children on the village square, ring stitching and other traditions.

Sloten is close to Schiphol and the highways without being a major nuisance. The take-off and landing strips do not go over the village, so you only hear Schiphol when there is a southerly wind
The connections to both Schiphol (15 minutes by bus) and to the city by both bus and tram are very good. We regularly cycle to the city on the countless beautiful cycle paths.

Also close to the Nieuwe Meer with a ferry to the Amsterdamse Bos. Many nature reserves for walking or cycling. De Nieuwe Meer also has beaches and good swimming water, sailing and surfing schools and much more. Wonderful restaurants on the waterfront, all within walking distance.

It’s a great place, away from the hustle and bustle but with very good connections. and facilities.
Nice and active people in the village with a nice mix of young and old.
